When I saw the Mini Mock Neck Tank by Jessie Maed Designs make its way through the knitting community, I wasn’t sure if it was for me. I absolutely loved the neckline, but the SUPER short length gave me pause. Luckily that can be fixed pretty easily, so I decided to give it a try.

I used three skeins of De Rerum Natura Albertine yarn in the Badiane colourway. This yarn is 90% Merino wool and 10% silk, giving it a somewhat rustic feeling – but with a bit of added softness from the silk. It’s fingering weight, as the pattern calls for. I took my new ChiaoGoo interchangeable set for a spin on this one and it was a total gamechanger. I waited too long to get a set of interchangables, but the price can be steep for quality brands, and I knew I wanted the ChiaoGoo complete set. It was well worth the wait!

The construction on this top was thoroughly enjoyable. It’s such a well written pattern, and I didn’t expect to fly through it as quickly as I did. I casted on July 13 and casted off on July 31, so that’s a really quick make by my standards. I loved how the top sections and arm holes came together, especially since you don’t have to go back and add ribbing to the arm holes. Not that I have a problem with that, but the finish on this top is really clean.

I truly love the finished product, although I could have sized up to a large and increased the length by 1”. Next time, I’ll buy 4 skeins of yarn and make those adjustments. As always, I’ve included more notes and thoughts on my Ravelry page.
If you’re looking for a last-minute summer make that will be a great layering piece all year long, give this one a try!
Happy making,
Jackie
