June Makes

2–3 minutes

I’m finally getting ahead of the month and posting my June makes before June has even ended (I definitely won’t be completing any more projects today). This was a month for fibre arts as I seemed to have lost my sewing mojo. That happens every now and again, but usually not in the summer. My love of knitting is going strong even into July, so I’m going to run with it and probably have only one or two completed projects next month. Now a look back at June:

Pattern: Ringer Tees

Designer: Brindille and Twig

Made: June 11

I started out the month with two cute tees for my daughter. This free pattern goes from 0m-6T, and I made a 4T for my very tall two-year-old. I’ll be sad when she sizes out of this pattern in a few seasons, but I’ll keep making it until then! I made these from a very high quality (and maybe a bit too pricey) Family Fabrics Netherlands jersey. I couldn’t resist the sweet patterns.

Pattern: Breezy Days Daisy Bag

Designer: Stephanie Jessica Lau

Made: June 8-12

I already dedicated a full post to this bag (linked below), but I’ll confirm that I still love it. Honestly, I’m a bit nervous to take it out and about. Does anyone else get precious about their hand knit or crochet items? I’ll wear a sewn garment without a second thought – but knitting and crochet takes a long time to complete. I must work up the courage!

If you’re curious about any of my knitting or crochet projects, I try to keep track on Ravelry. Take a peek here:

Pattern: Everyday Socks

Designer: Petite Knit

Made: March 15-June 15

Another month, another pair of socks. If you check the dates, you’ll see that it actually took me three months to finish these socks. I really picked up speed when I started knitting on my commute. I used to be self-conscious at the thought of knitting in public, but now I see how silly that was. What’s cooler than making clothing from a piece of string? Absolutely nothing. It’s magic. I used a sock yarn from a local shop for this pair, in the colourway “A Girl Inspired.”

Pattern: Oolong Tank

Designer: Aimee Sher

Made: May 1-June 20

This top also earned a blog post all its own – posted just last week. The speed at which I made this was really a triumph (by my own standards, of course). As confirmed by the socks that took me three months, I’m not the fastest knitter in the world, but the lace pattern on this one kept me interested. It’s also amazing how quickly a top comes together when it has no arms.

I know this post was all over the place if you’re a dedicated hobbyist. I like to dabble in a bit of everything, so I hope you found some inspiration in the mix.

Happy making,

Jackie
